I love rain. I love everything about rain — the wonderful smell of that first rain-laden breeze, the amazing liquid sound of rain hitting the roof, the primal roar of the thunder, and the awe-inspiring lightning.
Dallas is finally receiving a major rain event, hopefully ending the drought conditions brought on by last year’s blistering heat. So far in my neighborhood, we’ve received almost four inches of rain in the last 24 hours. We’ve had thunder and lightning and blowing rain all night. It’s been marvellous.
The low-pressure front that brings the rain, however, is another story.
Low-pressure systems have always been hard on my poor joints. I tend to hurt all over when one rolls through. Now, however, I’m well into my second week without RA meds, so I’m already stiff and sore. The rain makes it just that much worse.
I woke up this morning at 2:00 to loud claps of thunder and bright white lightning. And my joints hurt. And my tooth that’s having the root canal hurt. And I tossed. And I turned. And I couldn’t get comfortable. Finally at about 4:00 I got up and took some Tylenol. It was too close to my get-up time of 6:00 am to take anything stronger, but the Tylenol helped and I was able to get a bit more sleep before the alarm went off. I am definitely paying the price, though. I hurt all over and I’m sleep deprived on top of it.
My root canal appointment is late afternoon, after which I think I will go home, take that stronger pain medication, and get some much-needed sleep.
I hope that any rain that falls in your day today brings you blessings. Thanks for checking in.
