Both feet were encased in these devices which alternately inflated/deflated every 8 seconds to help circulation. I wore these the entire four days I was in the hospital. Note the green goo coating my foot and leg. This is equivalent to Betadine to sterilize the surgical site.

After blowing two veins in my right arm, the IV was started inside my left elbow. It started degenerating the second day. I spent another 36 hours trying to keep it intact.

The blue object in the middle of the photo is a wedge-shaped pillow. My legs were strapped to either side of it to keep me from crossing my legs or otherwise compromising my new surgery. I was strapped into the device for 24 hours.

This is the incision about 2 weeks after surgery. It is approx. 8" long and required 23 staples, which have been removed in this picture.
