October 16, 2012 — Orencia hasn’t been working after I was off of it after knee surgery. My rheumatologist switched me to Cimzia along with keeping me on 20 mg of leflunomide (Arava). You start with two injections every other week for the first three doses, then switch to a single injection every other week. Today was the first of my double dosages.
July 9, 2012 – After being off drugs for a while, I went back to my rheumatologist. I haven’t been doing well. She started me back on Orencia and 10 mg of Arava. In addition, I’m temporarily on Celebrex and 5mg of prednisone.
Starting the end of June 2012, I stopped the Mobic (and protonix to protect my stomach). This may change in July during my next scheduled visit to my rheumatologist.
From February 2012 until mid-March 2012, I was on Orencia along with Arava. I was having good luck with it, but had to go off of it for knee surgery. I started on Mobic in preparation for, during, and after surgery and I felt so good, that I convinced my rheumatologist to let me take a vacation from the “big” drugs. I am currently on 15 mg of Mobic each day along with 40 mg of Protonix to help protect my stomach.
From December 2011 until February 2012 I was on the following prescription medications to help control my RA:
Enbrel- 50 mg injection weekly (starting 12/9/09)
Arava – 10 mg daily (starting 4/18/11)
Folic Acid – 5000 mg daily (starting 7/23/11)
Protonix – 40 mg 2x daily (re-starting 12/12/11)
Tylenol and Aleve
I was previously on Methotrexate which I couldn’t tolerate and Humira which was not effective for me. I went on Simponi for five months. It worked wonderfully — for a week, but started wearing off quickly after that.
Until the end of April 2009, I was also on Celebrex and Protonix to protect my stomach from the Celebrex. I got off both (along with, temporarily my Enbrel) in anticipation of rotator cuff surgery. After four weeks of doing fine without either of them, I discontinued both drugs officially in June 2010. I restarted Protonix in December 2011 after developing an ulcer.
