At my house, there is usually a television on, if nothing else, just for “company”. Such was the case Saturday morning as I was getting ready for the day. I think it was something on the SciFi channel. But you can find jewels in the most unlikely places and, as I was getting dressed, a bit of dialogue caught my attention.
It was the phrase, “Love each day.”
I believe in counting your blessings instead of moaning about everything that goes wrong in your life, but even for me, that’s been hard lately, so I haven’t been up to my positive self. But if I could find one thing about my day to love — even if the rest of the day is totally in the ditch — it could make all the difference in the world — even something so simple like knowing that at the end of the day I have a nice glass of wine and a hug from my husband waiting for me. That’s something I love. And if I look forward to that with anticipation (instead of dreading the rest of my day), the quality of my entire day can be improved.
Sometimes it’s hard. Sometimes the thing I love about the day the most is that it’s over.
I was like that about all last week. I logged in over 60 hours at the office — and not doing something that I find particularly enjoyable. But I had a great weekend. I didn’t work. I got to sleep late both Saturday and Sunday. We went to see a fun movie Saturday afternoon followed by a nice dinner. I got caught up around the house on Sunday at a leisurely pace. And when I weighed in this morning, I’d lost 3 pounds. (Thanks, Wren, for the cosmic encouragement — it worked!)
The next couple of months are going to be very challenging. And I will probably really, really love when they’re over. In the meantime, I’m going to try to take it one day at a time and love each day.
Hope you find something to love in your day. Thanks for checking in.
