I’m lucky that I seem to seldom have a full-fledged flare. I’ll have a joint or two get aggrevated and hurt and/or swell up, but it’s not very often that I get incapacitated.

Last weekend was one of those times.

It almost felt like I had the flu where every joint hurt and it was painful just to lay under the covers and breathe. Usually a day and a night of rest is enough to get me through a flare, but this one lasted from Saturday all the way through to late Sunday afternoon. My poor husband got stuck with the laundry, the cooking, and the grocery shopping. It hurt so bad I was taking real pain medication instead of just Tylenol. I barely take that stuff after surgery, so that should give you an indication of how badly I felt.

Today I’m better — out of bed and back to work — but I feel sore all over — kind of like when you overdo working out and your muscles feel stressed the next day. That’s kind of how my joints feel — like someone stretched them out the last couple of days and they didn’t like it.

Like most of the country, Dallas has a cold front coming through tonight, bringing sleet, freezing rain, and snow. As susceptible to low-pressure fronts as I am, I’m certainly not looking forward to this one. Hopefully whatever caused the flare has worked itself out of my system and I’ll just have the cold/rainy-day aches.

Hope your weekend was better than mine and if this winter weather is headed your way, that you stay safe and warm. Thanks for checking in.
