I’m a late bloomer. I didn’t get braces until I was 30 and didn’t have my tonsils out until after that. I’ve never broken anything, and so, consequently, I’ve never had to use crutches — until now when I’ll be using them after surgery tomorrow. I do have a pair (that I’ve never used), which I got out of the attic yesterday and practiced with. I’m about as coordinated as a giraffe on an ice skating rink. Hopefully I’ll be able to graduate to my cane quickly before I further damage myself or anyone else.

In about 24 hours, I should be getting out of surgery and be on my way to recovery. We have to be at the surgical center at 5:30 for a 7:30 surgery schedule. I’m up first, so they shouldn’t be running behind. Surgery should take an hour to an hour and a half. With a conservative two-hour recovery window on top of that, I figure I’ll be home by noon.

I think I’m as ready as I can be. I have to take care of a couple of small errands this evening, but other than that, it’s just try to get a good night’s sleep and get through it and get well.

I appreciate everyone’s well wishes and healing thoughts. I’ll post again as soon as I can to let you know how everything went.

Thanks for checking in.
